It was a Friday night and our bistro turned out to be absolutely booked. It was starting to get hectic but no more than normal for any Friday evening. I could tell it was likely to be a very good night for us. Unexpectedly Jason came running right up to me through the kitchen. "We are gonna be in trouble!" he whispered in my ear.
Alarmed, I went with him straight to the kitchen. He then explained to me that the ice maker had powered out on us. I think it is safe to say that I was losing it. I at once directed one of the bus boys off to the local service station to order a number of bags of ice.
Our deli has a Scotsman Prodigy ice machine. It has worked pretty good for a couple of years for us, however just like any piece of equipment inside a bistro, there's always something... I removed the panel off the machine and at once I could see the water pump was in fact bad as it was smoking and smelled like the electric motor to the water pump had burnt up. Our ice machine is out of manufacturer's warranty so all of our service problems on the ice maker were getting expensive. I knew the part that we required was the water pump, therefore I suspected I could purchase the part and repair it by myself.
I phoned the sales representative from our dealer, who was nearly in bed at the time, she told me they dont normally stock Scotsman parts, I would need to hold out till Monday to have the part ordered then it would take two to three weeks for our part to get in. This was simply unacceptable. I was in no way, shape, or form going to afford bagged ice for the next fourteen days.
I had my assistant take control at the front door and then I went into my office and shut the door. I slid into my workdesk office chair, the flawed part in my palm. "Why does it continually have to be this way?" I thought. I looked down towards the part and found a little tag at the base of it. The part number was right there. I quickly cranked up my mobile computer and opened a web browser. I typed the part number inside the search bar "Come on.... Please!" I pleaded. I clicked on one of the web sites on the search and found the pump I was seeking. I impatiently doubled clicked the "Add to Cart" button and was floored to find out that despite having quick delivery; the part was in fact cheaper than if I were to buy it from my dealership!
I opened the entrance doors to the coffee shop on Tuesday morning and found the package placed there in front of the entrance. I ripped it open and there was in fact my new water pump. It practically seemed too good to be true. I connected the pump up in the ice maker and it started right up and started off making ice.
I know I cannot be the only cafe owner who has Scotsman ice machine challenges. If I could provide any kind of guidance on this topic, it might be: At least check on line first, then talk with your Scotsman representative. Scotsman parts are way cheaper on the internet. I will give you the name of the webpage that I located my part on. The Kitchen Restaurant Store provides a lot of other Scotsman and other ice machine parts, and its worth a glance.

A new national study illustrates that youth Mary Jane usage is on the rise and young adult alcohol consumption is dropping.
In the yearly survey, experts surveyed 8th, 10th, and 12th graders all over the country, and realized that marijuana, ecstasy and heroine use is up.
They survey shows that young adults who smoke Mary Jane on a daily basis has tripled in the last decade, but their perceived risk on the drug has lowered.
The survey also found that more young adults smoke Pot than cigarettes.
A high school student indicates that cigarettes are harder to obtain than marijuana, which is sad.
The rise in Marijuana use maybe contributed to the legalization of medical Pot in some states.
The report also figured out that prescription drug abuse is rising.
The greatest way to fight this matter is through correct education on the matter.
A baby sperm whale got trapped on shore near San Diego and was freed Monday by the Sea World Animal Rescue group.
The child whale was approximately fifteen to 18 feet in length and weighed about 1.5 tons.
The whale had snagged itself on some jagged rocks but was not impaired very bad.
The rescuers got to at the whale around 9:30 PM on Sunday and near Midnight took the newborn whale about half a mile out to sea and let it go. The infant whale swam away by itself, which was a great sign.
The rescue team was unable to identify the sex of the whale.
Congratulation to Sea World for helping an animal in despair. We need to observe more kind acts like this more frequently.
Hundreds of individuals were on the ski slopes dressed like Santa Clause at a ski resort in Maine during the weekend.
They showed up for the yearly Santa Sunday Event. For the occasion, skiers got a free lift ticket if they showed up dressed like Santa Clause and donated at least $10 dollars to the Bethel Rotary Club's yearly drive for give presents to local children.
The ski resort was filled inside 12 minutes.
That's sweet that the resort would offer up a place and lift tickets for the get together.
